THE HOUSE IS ON FIRE!

Picture this boys and girls, you’ve just turned off the shower and still haven’t full woken up and normally wouldn’t for quite some time. You’re just going through the motions like you do every morning and are starting to wipe the water from your body when sudden your mother starts to pound on the door and then shouts, “The house is on fire!” To which you yell back, “WHAT!” Thankfully your mother forgot some key words in her shout of urgency and replies, “I mean the next door neighbor’s house is on fire! Hurry up and get dressed!” Chaos and panic then flows into your mind and once again your normally quick thinking mind is left numb and not of much use.

Well that was my morning, how was yours? Hopefully it was better then mine. In all honesty I was not too concerned that my mom’s house might burn down. Sadly it would be better since she wants to sell it anyways and with the insurance money she’d come out very well. What was really on my mind? All of my packed boxes of course. I mean I just spent the better part of the weekend packing. I’ll be damned if some fire burns up all of my hard work! Sure we have some paintings that are worth a good chunk of money and things of value, but while I love my photo album and scrapbook most of my very favorite events in my life are not in those pages. They are clearly stuck in my head. At 2 deciding if no one was going to go for a walk with me then I would go alone. They learned that day of my independence and how deadbolts mean nothing to someone who wants to go for a walk, with someone or not. I grabbed my Hello Kitty purse brushed off my shoes, straightened my dress and started my long walk to the front gate to get into downtown Seoul , Korea . I never did make it out and was taken back home by a rather handsome and funny soldier who was guarding the gate. (Maybe this is when my fondness for older guys started?) I was not fond of adults. Wait...no, I hated adults when I was little. They treated me like a child and to this day I still hate people touching under my chin. I remember my mom and nanny both crying and scared, then shocked that I had let an older man pick me up and carry me home. Other then my dad no guy was allowed to do that. I mean it’s one thing if my blonde haired, green eyed sister got lost in Seoul , Korea , but it’s something very different if you’re Korean and you got lost. As my mom put it, “It would be like trying to find a needle in needles.”

They had a good reason to be nervous since although I learned quickly, they thought I’d be some genius boy were they wrong, I also felt anyone who gave you something for free was nice. If someone’s nice then they are good. If they are good then they are to be trusted. Yeah, my boyfriend asked if that’s why they had to always keep an eye on me when I was little. The funny thing was that since I had such a distain towards adults I didn’t let anyone touch me and if they even had a hint of “talking down” in their voice I’d glare at them until they left me alone. When I was little I did not feel I was a child and to be “talked down” to was the greatest insult to me. You wouldn’t play with an adult’s chin so why did they feel the need to play with mine? I slapped a lot of people when I was little since oddly enough they found the glaring to be “cute” and “amusing”.

Now since I did not get to go through my morning ritual I am left feeling drained and very tired. What happened after? Well I was about to walk out the door in slippers and a towel when my boyfriend was calmly getting dressed for work. I then threw on some sweats and a shirt. Then I realized I need to go to work! I was about to change when a police officer called through the door, “Are you guys dressed YET?” I then threw back on my shirt, grabbed my clothes and traded my nice warm fuzzy slippers for my black dress shoes. Then we realized we had to move the cars. I wanted to move mine, but since I was ready I had to move my boyfriend’s car since his was in back of mine. I then moved his car and then went to a neighbor’s house across the street to get dressed for work. While in their bathroom the horror and realization came over me. I forgot my panties. I don’t know where they went since they should have been on top of my slacks with my bra. I had two choices; wait until they put out the fire or the house blows up and then our house burns down and my underwear concern is then small when comparing things or get dressed and go to work. I picked getting dressed since I have two days off this week and I don’t have time to wait around who knows how long for the possibility of getting my panties. Why does this stuff happen to me? Seriously do people have to go through this type of crap their whole life as well? Thankfully my mommy said she’d stay and let me know if anything happened so I could go to work. It turned out that my boyfriend was not allowed to grab his shoes since our next door neighbor’s house might blow up at any moment. So there he was in my car shoeless. Needless to say I lost the battle over who was taking which car and ended up having to take his. I was then stuck with a very old cd I had made which made for even a worse drive then it had started out.

On the bright side I made my co-worker, the one who’s been helping me figure out moving and who’s husband works for a moving company, laugh very hard with my reason for why I might be late to work, “I think I’m going to be late because my neighbor’s house is on fire and it might blow up.” I got to be the first one ever to use that reason for being late to work! Yippy Skippy! Oddly enough I was at work well before 8:00am and I even stopped by Starbucks. I shouldn’t have, but today was definitely a Starbucks sort of day. My hair was unbrushed until I got to work (I keep a brush here just in case.), I’m tired and worn out. Well it can’t get any worse right? They put out the fire, everyone is safe and me spending almost my whole weekend packing wasn’t ruined by being burnt into nothing. I would have been depressed the most by losing our computers, my manga/anime collection and my Jun photo collection. It’s taken me a very long time to gather it all and to do it again...not sure if I’d have the will to, well except my Jun collection. I mean I have to have that for my bishies on SnS Forums. March is coming up too which means a new bishie picture!!

The last thing I have to vent about is something I found on kKaMa’s blog. They are finally making a movie for Dragonlance series. Of course it’s for just one of the books and not of the whole series, but did you see who was playing Ras? Seriously am I the only one who is totally pissed over their choice? I mean who else is a fantasy book reader and has been waiting over a decade for this to happen? I am just pissed. I have no idea if I should see it when it comes out or not. I love the series, sure they aren’t the best, but it’s what got me into writing fantasy! Their writing style is one of the types that I love the most. It’s taken so long for this to happen and I’m just completely disappointed. If you have not read the series, but like fantasy I highly suggest the series. I do not suggest buying it new though. I started that, but with like 14+ books in total it got too costly. You can easily find all of the books used, but in excellent or good condition on many online stores.

You're lucky you didn't find your panties somewhere in the route between your house and the neighbour's bathroom? I'll see if I can find the Dragonlance series.. How old is it?
» Nuttz on 2007-02-26 10:02:57

Firstly, I know what you mean. I was JUST like that as a child.

Lastly, you love Dragonlance? I love YOU for loving Dragonlance!!! I don't know how I feel about the whole thing in general. I believe I'm going to send in a spy (a friend) to go watch the movie for me, tell me if it's perfect, and depending on what they say, I'll go or not. And hopefull Sutherland will alter his voice or something. That's the only thing that would make sense to me. Along with making the other two books. Otherwise if they make JUST this book, it won't end very well. Not very well at all.
So we will see, my dear Dragonlance friend. We will see.
