New Years weekend!
I had a great New Years weekend, mainly due to the fact I work for a privately owned company so we got to go home early on Friday and then got a three day weekend. I’ve planned my days off very well so I have two more four day work weeks after this one! :) I have soooo much to do for Animanga since I took off a week from the site. I’ll probably spread it into two days worth of stuff though since I’m still trying to keep to my only one hour of working on the site. It never happens, but at least I try. XD I also need to try to keep my New Years resolution, put out a chapter a week for one of the series I’m working on. I normally don’t make any New Years resolution, but this seems “do-able”. Only time will tell though.
Anyone in the US who watched TV this weekend noticed how many marathons went on. Almost any given channel had some sort of marathon. What ever happened to putting on movies all day long? I was able to catch up on one show I had been meaning to watch for a while, Ugly Betty. I must say I like the show a lot. It’s nothing amazing, but it’s great entertainment and my Lord did anyone else notice how much weight America has lost? I saw her in the movie Real Women have Curves and boy was there a change. It’s not a huge huge change where now she’s really skinny, but it definitely looks like to get the part she had to lose a bit of weight.
Another marathon I ended up watching was Beauty and the Geek. Basically you take 8 “beautiful” girls and 8 “geeks” and pair them up and make them learn things they know nothing or very little about. I avoided this show when it first came out since it sounded almost like a dating game, but I was wrong since it’s definitely not. In the beginning I watched it because in the summary it said the girls would have to BUILD a computer. I instantly thought, “Wow some pretty girls who aren’t supposed to be really smart and rely on their looks have learned how to build a computer!” I was WRONG! What should have been said was that the girls will have to figure out how to hooks up the cables and cords for the computer. Wait no they will have to figure out how to hook up color coded cables and cords for a computer... <_<
Even though I was deceived I was hooked. Mainly the reason why I was hooked was because of a girl named Cher. Many times the other girls commented on how she was there for the wrong reason. She wanted the 250 grand. I’m thinking, “Sounds like a pretty good freakin’ reason to me!” If there was no money to win at all how many of those girls would have gone “for the experience”. That’s like a beauty contestant saying, “I don’t care if I win, I’m just so glad to have met so many great girls from my state/country.” No, she’s there to take the title. She’s just trying to look good in front of others and not being honest. When you go into contests you go in to WIN and if you aren’t then you shouldn’t be joining. You do not go in to make friends, try new things or any other crap reason that someone might say to look like a better person. The only people who might have gone in for the experience is the “geeks”, but I doubt that’s their sole reason.
One of the things the girls had to learn was poker. Cher learned her strongest point was being able to bluff and make the other girls believe she had a much better hand. One of the other girls commented on how that was “wrong”. The other girl was stupid. Bluffing is a huge part of poker. While a good poker player needs to have a great poker face, know the game well and can bluff; being able to bluff is very important. If you’re dealt a crap hand a great poker player can sometimes get others to quit so you can win. That’s what she did and she was damn good at it. It’s not her fault the other girls were insecure in their abilities and stupid now was it?
Cher did change though from how she was in the beginning, but her main goal was always the same. She wanted to win. She wanted to quit working 3 jobs and she wanted to go to med school. In the end she did win and I was over joyed. Although I liked Brittany, I hoped Cher would win and was “on edge” when it was neck and neck. I found Cher’s blunt honestly great. I had no idea Josh was only 5’4” until he made a video and said how tall he was. Next to Cher he could have been any height though since you never know how tall an Asian woman really is and she always wore heels. Although she may have acted blunt and straight forward in front of her rivals it was obvious they connected and worked very well together. I don’t think either would have won if they were no paired up together.
*hugs* I missed you! Wow.. sounds like a great movie to watch. I'm glad to know that you had a great New Years weekend. Well, I know some smart pretty girls.. but I don't know if they know how to build computers.. I only know how to use it..
