Over priced movies and kids.
As I mentioned in my previous blog I have THE worst luck when it comes to going to the movies with my boyfriend. Whenever we go we always end up wishing we had just waited for it to come out to rent. Sure there are some that “require” you go to the actual theater, but when you’re easily spending 25+ bucks for a show, popcorn and drinks only for the experience to be ruined it’s no longer worth it. Now everyone deserves to get out, BUT when you bring in the problem you better take responsibility. I do NOT mean saying sweetly, “Now behave XXX.” only to do nothing when XXX doesn’t behave. I mean you better be willing to either take your kid “to the woodshed” or leave. While we both spent the same amount of money I did not bring the problem. If I did then you’d be hearing me telling XXX that he better shape up or we’re gone. It’s rude, thoughtless, disrespectful and impolite to the crowd that the kids are disturbing to do nothing (this includes leaving when it’s obvious your kid will not behave). Why parents put up with that sort of behavior in their children is beyond me. Seriously who reading this got away with that sort of thing as a child? I know I sure as hell didn’t.
So what do I do when I’m stuck in a movie theater with 4+ little rug rats running around, screaming and annoying the crap out of me? I wait 15 minutes and if I don’t hear any acceptable discipline I then shout, “If those kids are yours shut them up or leave…PLEASE!” After all “it takes a village to raise a child”. :) I do it with the kindness of my heart and the anger that’s built up inside of me from parents not handling their kids for God knows what reason...honest. I’m also not exaggerating on this either. It happens EVERY single time we go to the movies. The odd thing is it only happens when I go with my boyfriend; no matter what time of day, how long we hold off on going so it won’t be as crowded, etc. It always happens!! It’s like Gods way of saying, “Mark this as reason number 6 for not having kids Katrina. No matter how you are your kids could turn out like this.” I took note and yes it is number 6 on my list. :)
For silver. here is my review of the remake of Pride and Prejudice 2005. It is the same color as the backgrounds so it won’t be spoiled for anyone who wants to try out this God awful, boring piece of crap they call a movie. :)
If you love the novel, don’t watch this movie. Heed my warning from one Pride and Prejudice novel lover to another. Hell, even the two remakes before this was better, Pride and Prejudice (2003) and Bride and Prejudice (2004)! Have you SEEN those two movies? Ok Bride and Prejudice is my favorite of the two remakes after the 1995 mini series, although Pride and Prejudice 2003 does have one of my favorite scenes/quotes. :) Enough about those remakes, this is supposed to be about the piece of crap released in 2005.
Why do I loath this remake so much considering I like the other two? Well they went their own way and did their own “thing” with the plot line. Unlike Pride and Prejudice 2005 those two took a new spin. The 2003 took the basic plot line and brought it to 2003 while Bride and Prejudice made it into a musical and took it to India and England . Pride and Prejudice 2005 was supposed to bring the book to life, not kill it slowly and painfully while putting the audience to sleep. While the cast was well chosen, whoever wrote the script and gave the ok on all of the changes, like leaving out characters that played a decently important role, should be taken out and shot like Old Yeller.
They couldn’t even get the simple things correct. Since when was their small country town turn into some hick hee-haw village with hoe-downs? I mean their ball looked more like something you’d see after a barn raising. Another example would be when Elizabeth went to went to her friend’s place and spent a few months there meeting Colonel and Darcy. Darcy is supposed to propose to her while in the house and then give her a letter in the park. They switched it around and added rain. I guess how Jane wrote it wasn’t dramatic or good enough for them. The whole movie is so slow, boring and lacks the humor the novel has. They cut out scenes, characters and made the movie completely dry. Even the small moments of humor they did keep did not save this piece of crap movie.
My advice is to save your money and rent Bride and Prejudice. It’s a funny musical with the basic plot of Pride and Prejudice. If you don’t mind sudden moments where people burst into song and dance I’m sure you’d enjoy this movie much better. Although I am guilty in saying I enjoyed Pride and Prejudice 2003, it’s not for everyone since although they do keep moments the same I am not so sure it’s for people looking for something like Pride and Prejudice since it’s not really. If you must see something on the novel then I suggest you spend the money to rent or buy the mini series. Although it is older, much older by comparison, it is well done and very good. Although like everything there are slight changes you over look them since you are not bored to death counting the seconds of freedom from the horrible vision in front of you. :) So there’s my review of Pride and Prejudice 2005.
It may indeed take a "village to raise a child" However; it is usually the Village Idiot that ends up shocked! So did the idiotic parent comply? Don't let the Village Idiot be reasons not to have kids! Your kids will be fine as long as you are the parent. Cause people like us knew not to make our parent look like the Village Idiot or else!

I share a similar distaste for kids in movies, nay, kids in general.
By the way, I have an image with some Korean writing on it that I was wondering if you could help me translate into english. Comment me back if you want to help me out.

did they comply... Well I got a few laughs, some "oh my God did she just..." and the rest of the people, mainly around where I was sitting and having to put up with the kids, cheered so I guess the parent/s got the hint and took their kid/s out or left. Not sure which, but it was nice and decently quiet (stupid cells not on vibrate) so I didn't care. XD
