The Dinner Party.

Well I had put off writing a blog about my dinner party because it ticked me off like no tomorrow whenever I thought about it. Have I cooled off yet? Not really which is why this will be a very short blog. Pretty much nothing went right. Nothing was done correctly and thankfully since none of my guests had planned it they didn't know what a huge screw up it was. They all had a good time which I'm glad they did since then I would have been really pissed if the mistakes ruined their fun. Well let's start at the beginning shall we?

So I had my dinner in the Sun Room at Wawona Hotel in Yosemite National Park. I recommend their restaurant, but I won't ever be having an event there again. First off, I've never seen so many Asians since I went to UC Davis when deciding which college I wanted to go to. Ok, San Francisco in China Town or Japan Town is a very close second. :) I've also learned that Mandarin doesn't always sound nice. I've been watching and rewatching It Started With a Kiss and I have Neng bu Neng and Say U Love me running through my head constantly. I think it's how harsh the men and women sounded. The people who sing have a very nice tone to their voice. It's hard to explain.

Since I really don't want to start bitching I'll just say the positive things. My guests were happy. They enjoyed themselves. I enjoyed myself when I got to mingle. I got to speak to our CCO's wife, she's really nice and fun to spend time with. I got to spend time with our VP's wife, she's a lot of fun too. I rarely see anyone away from work except one co-worker I go out to lunch with sometimes. There were two co-workers I invited and ended up being very glad they came. I'm not as close to them as the others and at first did it because of their status, but they were great fun and I'm really glad they made it. I wish I had been able to spend more time with all of them. I know my husband feels the same way about his co-workers, but because of some things done incorrectly it couldn't be helped.

The hors d'evours were great. The stuff mushrooms were gone in a flash, we should have ordered two sets of those. XD I wasn't too keen on the nasty ass long grain wild rice they served, but my guests raved about how delicious it was. I guess they like wild rice. I find it to be the bastard child of bark and rice myself. If I had known that was going to be our starch I would have picked something else. I liked the salad, but I still would have liked to try the cold melon and mint soup. I got vetoed on that wish by my husband and my mom. I got the "you're out of your mind" look from both of them when I suggested it. My mom said I should think about my guests and I said screw them I want the soup. I started laughing since I was just kidding, but the look on my mom's face was priceless since her next comment was, "I'm paying for it and I DON'T want COLD soup!"

The weather was nice. There had been some rain so it cooled the temp down to mid 85's. There was another event on the lawn and I was glad I wasn't them. I was surprised that everyone except for my relatives brought gifts. It was very odd since it's not like they didn't already get me something. My co-workers had bought us a crock pot, which I use a lot, and a George Grilling thing, which I also use a lot. My husband's work bought his a New Egg gift cert., which helped us upgrade our comps. XD Needless to say it was a very nice surprise to receive more gifts. I've been working on the thank you cards, but each time I'm almost done I'll notice I misspelled something. :/ I've ran out of my cards and am working on the second batch. I think I'll just send it no matter what this time around, even with spelling errors.

Well there's my nice version without any ranting or getting pissy. I will say this. My CCO commented on how my co-workers thought I was handling the stress well. My husband's co-workers thought I was freaking out. I was in the middle really. I wanted to have a nice time so I kept reminding myself I could freak out later. One of my co-workers noticed how hard I walk when I was upset. The more pissed I am the faster and harder I walk. I'm a woman on a mission and there's hell to be paid to someone! XD It also just proves that your view on someone can be totally different depending on how well they know you. They've seen me completely freaked out while his co-workers have only seen me at dinner parties, that I didn't have to control... *cough* I mean organize.

It was bound to happen.

I'm sorry, but it was bound to happen. A South Korean tourist was accidentally shot in North Korea for accidentally going into a military restricted area (on the beach). My mom had pictures of the river in Korea that separates the two countries. Military lines both sides and if someone is on the wrong side with the wrong flag you're shot. Granted that was in the early 80's, but considering how many Koreans still dislike/hate Japanese it seems they know how to hold their grudges. Given what country she's in and the history you'd think someone who's 53 years old would have known better. You keep your wits about you and make sure you're not going into a zone you shouldn't be. Could it have been on purpose? That's always a possibility.

The new iPhone was released today. I was shocked to learn the Japanese has never had a touch screen phone before this one. I mean really? They can use their phone as wallets and yet they haven't thought of touch screen before? Very weird. I'd rather give up the touch screen and have the phone wallet. So sweet!

My husband and I finally got our stimulus check and so once we've cleaned out our house so we can get a new TV. It's going to be a 40" LCD, but which brand and such we aren't sure, either a Sony or a Samsung. I thought about a smaller one, but because you lose height I wanted the 40". It's probably going to be a month or more before we get the TV since there's a lot to do other then just buying it. We'll be moving into our living room once we get it and because we signed a year lease they gave us a free carpet cleaning which I want to use. We don't have a sofa or recliners yet, but we have a coffee table and end/side table! XD I bought them when the Bombay company was going out of business. If I had more money we would have bought more then that. I miss that store. That was a really fun window shopping store.

So for my birthday I bought Sex Pistols volume 5...excuse me Love Pistols (stupid name change) and the last volume of Kimi wa Petto. Love Pistols was great and I can't wait for the next volume to come out. The chapters that Nakama didn't put out were everything I hoped they would be. Since it's one of my favorite stories within that series I'm really glad the translators didn't fuck things up. Kimi wa Petto was...good. It wasn't great or wonderful or something that I could rave about. It was a nice ending and wrapped things up. It was just...I'm not sure how to explain it. I was expecting more. It's like when you work your ass off and you get a B on a test or project instead of an A. It's disappointing, you aren't satisfied and a bit pissed that someone thought you deserved a B so you ask them why and end up arguing about their grading system. Not that it's ever happened to me... <_<;; Any ways, it's like that. I wasn't completely dissatisfied with the ending or volume, but compared to the others I feel shorted.

Oh yeah Sayumi might be able to see Arashi!!! I'm going to send her money to help her go. Oh, I'm not a nice person. This is for purely selfish reasons. I want pictures of JUN and to see what they offer for stuff at the event! XD I feel bad since part of it is the twin's birthday money, but I found out if you send a card and not a package their post office doesn't check it. So I'll send them a birthday card with a money order instead of the normal one manga volume for each with some Pocky. XD

So I found a Korean actor that I thought was good looking. I know, he's the second one I've seen so far. It's not amazing or anything, but he's better then most. It's the second male lead in My Girl. I gave the show another shot. It still dies down for me after a while, but in the beginning the show is funny as hell. I love it when she tells the male lead he's going to regret it. My favorite is when he brushes her off at the airport and is rude to her. She then acts like she's his wife with a child, how awful he is to just leave his family and how her mom told her not to trust "main land" guys. She causes just a huge scene and is crying and loud in the middle of the airport. Then his whole plane ride everyone's looking at him like he's scum and one older woman asks how he can leave his wife. Funny stuff, but couldn't save the second half of the show.
