Ungrateful.

Note: This was written on Monday.

Sometimes in the morning while driving from work, usually after having the same mp3 cd in my car for 3+ weeks, I start switching to the radio every so often. I used to listen to “Alice” all of the time, but my obsession with Japanese music took over and the morning show became a thing of the past. I happened to catch something that burned me up this morning. A caller called in asking for some phone number for something and Laurie asked her to also share a story since it was close to Valentine’s Day I guess. (I like Laurie a lot.) Well the caller says every year her boyfriend (Although she later mentioned divorce so maybe husband?) always showed up with a bouquet of flowers. Last year she said she wanted him to use his imagination. She’s already making him out to be a bad guy because he did exactly what a vindictive woman would do after being told that; buy a pos and then blow a lot of money...there’s using imagination for ya! MUWAHAHAHA!! XD /falls over laughing He bought her second hand lingerie and then left and blew almost a grand at the casino...I’m probably the only woman, well person, who laughed when she said what he did; and I still find it very funny and amusing. I know Laurie and the woman did not find the humor in what he did.

Now during the whole time she told the story not once did she mention what she gave him. The whole time she was telling her amusing story of woe I kept wondering, “So what did you get him?” I mean what right does she have to complain if she didn’t get him jack? Why didn’t she ever mention what she got him? I’ll tell you why. She didn’t say what she got him every year because she didn’t get him a damn thing. She couldn’t say it because it would then ruin her story of woe and make everyone say, “And...” Women in the USA are shown by society that we do not have to do a damn thing on Valentine’s Day. I mean how often to your girlfriends ask you what you’re going to get for your guy? Now think about how many of them ask you what your guy is going to get you. Think about all of the commercials. When was the last time you saw one where the woman was getting the guy something? In fact except for Christmas and Father’s day it’s never shown on TV. I mean it’s not like Japan where there’s White Day. (Valentine’s Day is where women give a gift, usually chocolate, to men and White Day is where the men have a damn good excuse not to give anything to their woman if she doesn’t give anything on Valentine’s Day...even then I bet the women there still give their guys hell. <_< ) Your significant other gets you something every year, even if it’s the same thing, unless it’s poo in a bag shouldn’t you be happy? He went out of his way, probably on the most nightmare of a day, besides Black Friday, to buy you flowers. Like I said it’s not poo in a bag so why complain? Am I the only one who feels like this? Does anyone else agree that she shouldn’t have complained about a gift? A gift is a gift for crying out loud. Anything you get, on Valentine’s Day or not, should be cherished for the fact that someone who loves and cares about you got you something with you in mind. It is the thought that counts the most.

Just one more thought on this about the bouquet. Would she have disliked the bouquet if he picked it out especially for her? What if each year he had picked out flowers that to him represented their relationship? Would she still have gotten her panties in a bunch? Is she such a greedy person who feels like she should have gotten more that flowers aren’t good enough? Sometimes I wish I liked in simpler times...and then I have to go to the bathroom and thank God I don’t! :)
